Town Elections
The Town of Dagsboro holds elections on the first Saturday of December, if needed. There will be an election on Saturday, December 2, 2023 from 1-5 p.m. at the Dagsboro Volunteer Fire Department which is located at 28331 Clayton Street.
2024-2025 Solicitation of Candidates
The deadline to register to vote in the Municipal Election being held on December 2, 2023, is Friday, November 17, 2023. If your name is on the deed to your property that is within the corporate limits, you do not need to register. If you are not sure, you can contact Town Hall to verify. Please note, if you are NOT a property owner, you must register at Town Hall during regular business hours (8:30-4:30) by November 17, 2023 to be eligible to vote. Businesses/Partnerships/Corporations in the corporate limits must have a Certification and Affidavit form (see below) completed and notarized prior to the election and the chosen representative must bring this with them to vote.
Nominations for candidates: begins on Friday, October 20, 2023 and continues through Friday, November 9, 2023. The solicitation notice will be posted on the website, at the Post Office, Town Hall, the Bank of Delmarva (in Dagsboro), the Dagsboro Volunteer Fire Department, and Bethel United Methodist Church.
Qualifications of Candidates: Each member shall be at least 18 years of age; each member shall be a natural person, citizen of the United States and of the State of Delaware and a bona fide resident of the Town of Dagsboro.
Qualifications to Vote:
Resident Individuals: Over the age of 18 and citizens of the Town, State of Delaware, and the United States.
Property Owners: If individuals – must be over age 18; if corporation or association (or other entity) – must provide a certified copy of a resolution of said entity authorizing the person named therein to vote for the entity; if partnership – only one partner may vote for the partnership. Individuals and corporation/partnership/association entities must be citizens of the Town, the State of Delaware, and the United States. If an individual is both a resident and a property owner, he or she shall have only one vote.
Absentee Ballots: Request forms for absentee ballot packages may obtained from Town Hall or website at any time. Absentee ballot packages will be distributed to those requesting ballots after the candidates have been nominated and determined qualified. Absentee ballot requests must be received no later than 12:00 p.m. on Friday, December 1st, 2023. Absentee ballots may be received up to closing of the polls on Election Day.
